"Gone all the way to Belgium ..."

How far is Belgium from the UK that "going all the way to" makes it a big thing.

Less than 2 hours by train, isn't it?

Those that can, do.

Those that can't try to score website points on a fans site from those that do.

Come on you Hammerboys!

https://www.tvl.be/nieuws/politie-bereidt-zich-voor-op-engelse-voetbalfans-in-centra-van-hasselt-en-genk-128437

Police prepare for English football fans in the centers of Hasselt and Genk.

For the first time in two years, the federal police are going to Limburg with their large resources for the high-risk race Racing Genk against West Ham United. Because after, among other things, the fan violence surrounding the European match between Racing Genk and Dinamo Zahgreb, the hooliganism seems to be back. The LRH and Carma police zones are preparing for English supporters to possibly travel to the centers of Hasselt and Genk without a ticket.
In both cities, 800 hotel rooms have already been booked by Hammerboys, fans of West Ham United. They booked the night BEFORE the match and may hang out here after the match. How many English people will make the crossing is still a question mark for everyone. In any case, the 1200 tickets for away supporters were all sold in the stadium itself. The West Ham players are exploring the turf in the Cegeka Arena tonight. Genk coach John van den Brom spoke to the press just before this broadcast.

Europa League

Police expect many West Ham supporters without tickets

Genk -The police expect a lot of English supporters without tickets in Genk and Hasselt on Thursday for the Europa League match KRC Genk-West Ham United. “We are deploying extra teams,” it sounds. In Hasselt alone, fans of The Hammers have booked about 500 hotel rooms.

Police warn Irons fans

Met Police officer Andy Sheldon has warned West Ham supporters not to travel to the stadium in Genk without a ticket and instead watch the game on TV in a bar in Brussels or Hasselt.
He also warned supporters with valid tickets there will a complete absence of trains back from Genk to Brussels after the game
Sheldon told his followers on social media: ‘Word on the street is there will be thousands of West Ham over in Belgium, many without tickets, The advice to those without tickets is to find a bar to watch it in, there are only a few small bars in Genk so will be a better option to find one in Brussels/Hasselt, There will be NO more tickets made available in either the away or home end. In relation to Covid the rules have become slightly stricter from today.’
West Ham only got an official allocation of 1,017 which were quickly sold out to bondholders and season ticket holders with 40 or more loyalty points.
Club London and commercial partners also received a small number of tickets to the Europa League group H away fixture.
West Ham supporters have found it difficult to buy tickets in the Genk home end as you require previous purchase history and no tickets will be available on the gates leaving many to hope they can buy from touts but Belgium authorities have vowed to clamp down.
The Genk stadium holds a capacity of 24,956 with an average attendance of around 18,500

I didn't see it was a 17.45 until this morning either. Assumed 20.00 as it's not in Eastern Europe, and very nearly caught out by it as well.

Well done Ernie, despite what the wankers say. There's so much more to a great away day than the game. In fact sometimes it's the football that spoils it!

I hope you can somehow get a ticket but if not just soak up that atmosphere. An away day in Europe has a magic of its own.
